Sponsorship will support Technology and Engineering Education program for area students.
GERMANTOWN, WI (January 1, 2019) – Germantown-based MGS, a provider of optimized manufacturing solutions for high-precision plastic products, announced today its $25,000 donation to the Germantown School District to provide new and updated equipment for the district’s Tech Ed facilities. The donation underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting the education of local students about the value of a career in manufacturing.
MGS’s sponsorship of the Germantown School District will provide students in its Technology and Engineering Education program with new, up-to-date equipment to provide simulated on-the-job training skills critical to a career in manufacturing. As the company looks to forge a lasting partnership with Germantown schools, the company is looking to help design and support a curriculum that provides vital education in areas like mold design and machining to help address the growing, critical skills gap that manufacturers are facing today.
“We’re excited about this opportunity to support local students while fostering interest in manufacturing as a career – not just a job,” said Joe Hook, director of advanced manufacturing at MGS. “Our businesses integrate tooling, plastics manufacturing and equipment development, exposing students to a broad range of manufacturing processes and skills.”
MGS will also be involved in additional activities at Germantown schools, including its participation in a tour of local manufacturing facilities that all ninth-grade students at Germantown High School will be participating in, and its presence at the Germantown High School Career Fair.
“We value the relationship that we’ve built with the manufacturing community in Germantown and are pleased to forge this new partnership with MGS,” said Rick Grothaus, director of educational systems at the Germantown School District. “Our focus in on growing awareness with students in our school district about the opportunities associated with a career in manufacturing, providing the education they need to understand and pursue their options.”
